Infrastructure

We understand the critical need for infrastructure projects. They are vital to the economic development and social progress of communities, and we have strong networks and expertise in these areas.

Examples of our track record in infrastructure include but are not limited to:

  • Water: the Group has been a leading player in the development of Egypt's water infrastructure. The construction portfolio includes total treatment capacity exceeding 8.1 million m³ across desalination, wastewater treatment and water treatment. Projects include Bahr El Baqr Water Treatment Plant (the largest in the world), Abu Rawash Wastewater Treatment Plant, El Galala Desalination Plant and New Cairo Wastewater Treatment Plant (first PPP in Egypt)
  • Transportation: building the world's longest monorail system in Egypt, key player in Greater Cairo Metro since the late 1980s, Port Said tunnels, over 1,000km of railway in the Middle East, over 30 airports in the Middle East, Sky Train at Phoenix International Airport and currently constructing the new terminal at Kansas City International Airport
  • Highways and roads: completed over 2,000 km of highways and roads in the Middle East
  • Power: over 28 GW of power plants in Egypt, Algeria and Iraq, including two of the world's largest combined cycle power plants and the first renewable IPP project in Egypt

Industrial

The Group has been a leader in many types of industrial projects. Our expertise spans across a wide array of industries across the Middle East and the United States. We have successfully constructed numerous plants in a wide range of sectors, including as cement, fertilizers, petrochemicals and LNG sectors.

We continually secure large contracts, working in partnership with other leading regional and multinational contractors. Our in-house team completes all civil, mechanical and electrical work, and even supplies the steel structures and equipment.

Our sample portfolio includes:

  • Data centers: multiple data centers in Iowa, Arizona, Colorado and Egypt for blue-chip clients
  • Fertilizer: over 12 mtpa of nitrogen fertilizer capacity in Egypt, Algeria and USA including the largest nitrogen fertilizer plant in USA in nearly 30 years, Sorfert Algerie, and Kima
  • Cement: over 45 mtpa of cement production capacity around the world
  • Petrochemicals: 8 petchem projects in the Middle East and the largest methanol plant in USA

In the Middle East, Orascom Construction has experience in the construction of commercial buildings that spans over decades. During that time, we became the preferred choice for large-scale commercial projects with an impressive portfolio.

We execute repeat businesses with several private and public sector clients who appreciate our levels of excellence and our customer focus.

  • Healthcare: recently constructed 3 of the newest hospitals in Egypt and selected to build the landmark Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center
